Number of Societies

There are 44 male and female societies in BAUEC extension villages.  Every society has savings habit.  The total members of all societies are 1389. And all of them have savings, a total amount of BDT 19,01,690.
Ongoing activities
 Vaccination
Since 1980, BAUEC organizes vaccination program in the surrounding areas of BAU with the help of Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH), BAU, Mymensingh. Vaccination is provided annually for the control of diseases of animals in the six different field areas of BAUEC. It is a very popular program among the farmers as they received vaccine and other technical advice for the livestock and poultry rearing from experts free of cost. Internship students of the Faculty of Veterinary Science under the guidance of authority of VTH participate in this program as their field activities. During vaccination program, they also provide treatments of the animals, whenever necessary. All categories of BAUEC personnel get involve to make the program a success.
 
Fodder cultivation on competitive basis
To promote and develop animal husbandry especially for increases milk production in the BAUEC working areas fodder cultivation program on competitive basis has been started since 2018.Twelve farmers are selected who will cultivate Napier, German & Para grass in their fields. For that purpose, BAUEC organizes orientation program where farmers get training and technical advice from the experts. After that they plant their fodder according to the guideline of BAUEC fields stuff.  Evaluation team will visit those 12 fields (plot) at the different growing stage of fodder. And finally 3 farmers would be selected for giving prize with ceremony. This program will motivate other farmers for fodder production of their animals.
 
Fish Cultivation
BAUEC is working to enhance the knowledge among the farmers about fish production, management, fish processing and marketing system. Increasing fish production by using scientific culture management and improved fish culture method for rural self employment and filling the nutrition demand of villagers BAUEC is serving at the surrounding areas of BAU and some villages of neighboring Upazila’s. BAUEC conducts training for the selective fish farmers and also technical training for the field extension workers for active extension of technologies with the help of Faculty of Fisheries, BAU, Mymensingh and BFRI. Till BAUEC with its own limited efforts and mentioned organizations, more than two thousand farmers are trained up about various aspects of fisheries.
 
Winter vegetable program on competitive basis
Scince 1980, BAUEC has been performing “winter vegetable program.” At first, interested educational institutions and farmers are selected. An orientation program is held for the farmers and the representatives of the educational institutions. After the orientation specific training is given to them regarding the techniques of vegetable cultivation and then seeds, fertilizers and seedlings etc are provided to them. These demonstrations are implemented by the field staffs and monitored by the officers of BAUEC. As it is a competitive program, all these demonstrations are evaluated by an evaluation committee. Finally, this program is completed with a prize giving ceremony.
 
Summer vegetable program on competitive basis
Considering the cultivation of the vegetables in the homestead areas of farmers throughout the year and considering the nutritional and economic value of vegetables “summer vegetable program” has been started since 2015. Now this program is being implemented with the participation of 18 farmers. At first interested farmers are selected and an orientation program is held for the farmers. After the orientation specific training is given to them regarding techniques of vegetables cultivation and then seeds, fertilizers and seedling etc are provided to them. These demonstrations are implemented by the field staffs and monitored by the officers of BAUEC. As it is a competitive program, all these demonstrations are evaluated by an evaluation committee. Finally this program is completed with the prize giving ceremony.
